weekly) to Agrimin Reports to (Title): The Agrimin Board and Chairman 1. Job Purpose: The Employee’s appointment is as an Executive Director of the Company with particular responsibility for research and development. The Employee will also undertake such other roles and duties as the Employer considers appropriate. 2. Principle Responsibilities (Research Director): Responsibilities include:
1. Develop and implement the Agrimin’s research strategy relating to products that have an environmental benefit; improve animal welfare; and enhanced resource utilisation.
2. Oversee multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, timeliness, and adherence to budgets.
3. Lead and mentor a small multidisciplinary team of researchers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
4. Collaborate with other departments and external contractors to align research goals with commercial objectives.
5. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform research direction and product development,
6. Develop new products, technologies, from concept to market launch including manufacturing scale up. Facilitating the translation of research findings into practical applications or commercial products.
7. Ensure research outputs comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards
8. Prepare and present research results in regulatory dossiers 9. Present research findings to the board and potential commercial partners. 10. Manage intellectual property strategies, including patents and licensing
opportunities. 11. Secure funding through grants, commercial partnerships, and other sources. 12. Develop and maintain relationships with academic institutions, industry partners,
and other research organisations. 13. Stay current with the latest developments in the field and identify new research
opportunities. 14. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and ethical standards in research
practices.
3. Job Context/Key Challenges: The key challenges are to define and implement the long-term research strategy; allocating a limited budget, people and equipment to deliver innovative products that are safe and efficacious and manufactured to an appropriate quality standard. Attracting and retaining a qualified team that responds to a flexible environment. Securing grants, and other sources of funding to support research initiatives. The ability to manage crisis handling setbacks, failed experiments, or unexpected challenges in research projects to deliver positive outcomes. 4. Knowledge and Experience:
Qualifications: 1. Ph.D. in Animal Science or a related field; a degree in Veterinary Science; an
MBA or similar business degree is a desirable plus. 2. Extensive experience in animal health research, with at least 5 years in a
commercial or business-focused role. 3. Proven track record of successfully translating research into commercially viable
products or services. 4. Strong understanding of the farm animal health market, including key players,
trends, and challenges. 5. Experience in product development, preferably in animal health, nutrition, or the
environmental control of emissions on-farm. 6. Excellent project management skills with a focus on delivering results within
budgets and timelines. 7. Strong business acumen and ability to assess market opportunities and risks.
Desired Skills: 1. Experience in securing and managing commercial partnerships and research
collaborations. 2. Familiarity with regulatory processes for animal health products. 3. Knowledge of intellectual property management and commercialization
strategies. 4. Strong network within the animal health industry and related sectors. 5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. 6. Ability to balance scientific rigour with commercial pragmatism.
