Introduction
Nimrod Veterinary Products Ltd was founded in 2007 by David Renney, a veterinary surgeon with a particular interest in farm-animal and equine medicine. David Renney has over 25 years of experience in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry.
Nimrod specializes in working with vets to improve productivity, performance, and welfare of farm animals, poultry and horses and operates worldwide. Working with partners around the world, it seeks out new ideas, technologies and products for specialist horse, cattle and poultry vets. Nimrod is the market leader in fluid therapy and clinical nutrition for adult cattle in the the UK, Netherlands and Scandinavia, and has a diverse and interesting range of other products, including pharmaceuticals and diagnostic tests. It is also established in France.
In 2019, Nimrod established a new company in the Netherlands to develop its business interests in the Netherlands and Belgium and extend the scope of its activities in Europe.
Overview of the role
The role of Territory Manager is to be Nimrod’s representative in Germany. You will be located in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) or Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia). You will manage the development and growth of Nimrod’s presence in Germany on a day-to-day basis, selling and promoting Nimrod’s products to vets. In particular, you will apply your technical expertise to increase knowledge of fluid-therapy among vets and establish the SELEKT brand. The postholder will be responsible for sales of Nimrod’s products to veterinary practices in the territory and for implementing marketing initiatives. The postholder will work with a highly professional team based in the UK and the Netherlands.
The postholder will report on a day-to-day basis to the European Regional Manager in the Netherlands and but will be given full technical and other support from the Nimrod’s Veterinary Sciences Manager and the Managing Director.
The Postholder
The postholder will have good biological sciences knowledge, preferably holding science qualifications. He or she will enjoy learning, be inquisitive and have an interest in and experience of the veterinary and agricultural industries. A most important skill will be the postholder’s ability to build trusting and rewarding relationships with vets. The postholder should enjoy travelling and may need to stay away from home. The postholder will also need to be able to travel to the Netherlands and the UK at least four times a year for sales meetings and training.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Relationships with veterinary practices
1.1 Research and understand the veterinary practices in the territory and having an understanding of the industry structure and corporate ownership.
1.2 Maintain an up-to-date database of veterinary practices with detailed information on each practice.
1.3 Manage the relationship with corporate practices.
1.4 Identify practices with the greatest potential for Nimrod.
1.5 Make plans for the development of the relationship with practices and identify key decision makers.
1.6 Review regularly the sales performance, identify variances from budget and explain them to the Manager.
1.7 Make and execute an annual sales plan, which will be reviewed and revised quarterly, and which will include:
- Sales objectives for major customers
- Sales-call objectives
- Call frequencies
- Itineraries
1.8 Provide an after-sales service to customers, in particular, repairing SELEKT pumps and drenchers which has become damaged.
- Knowledge and Customer Service
2.1 Develop an excellent technical knowledge and understanding of Nimrod's products and be able to detail the products to vets.
2.2 Engage the Universities and work with key influencers in academia.
2.3 Provide an excellent service to all of the company’s customers in the territory.
2.4 Run talks and training sessions for farmers and vets in partnership with veterinary practices with support from the Veterinary Sciences Manager or European Regional Manager when necessary.
2.5 Become recognized as a source of expertise for vets.
2.6 Book and attend trade shows in Germany and congresses for vets in the EU.
- Administration and development of Nimrod Germany
- Assist in developing the support systems of the company including the website, social media, use of the database Sales Force, strategy for business development and sales materials.
- Maintain relationships with wholesalers and negotiate trading arrangements for wholesalers to stock Nimrod’s products. Support will be given by the European Regional Manager.
3.3 Organise equipment and facilities needed for the role as a territory manager.
3.4 Report progress to the European Regional Manager and/or the Directors. Work with the European Regional Manager in the preparation of the annual sales budget and marketing plan.
- Monitor and regularly advise the European Regional Manager and/or Directors of competitors’ activities in the territory.
- Investigate and record complaints, and respond to them in accordance with the company’s standard procedures.
3.7 Follow the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures for Pharmacovigilance.
3.8 Attend training and sales meetings in the UK, NL or online.

To undertake any other tasks as directed by the management of the company that are commensurate with the post.
