Role title – Communications and Marketing Manager Hybrid working for 2 days per week at home
Join the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) and help promote excellence in the veterinary profession.
The role: BSAVA is looking for an exceptional marketing professional with a track record of delivering innovative and impactful marketing and engagement campaigns.
This is an exciting opportunity to transform the BSAVA’s approach to communications and marketing making it relevant to a rapidly changing environment. You will lead the marketing team, overseeing the development and delivery of marketing strategies, plans and processes which bring the BSAVA brands and products to life. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of BSAVA’s communication channels, helping to review and improve current strategies to ensure content aligned with these strategies is shared with members and the wider veterinary community.
Skills and experience: We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a track record of success, who can demonstrate excellent understanding of a broad range of marketing tools and practices. Our members are at the heart of our organisation, and we’re looking for someone who is committed to a member-led approach, who can develop effective engagement strategies and deliver real impact for the association and our members. Key to this is leading a team of dedicated individuals, designing and implementing departmental processes aimed at efficiency and ensuring that service levels committed to other departments are adhered to.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, with a good eye for detail and strong written and visual literacy. They will have significant previous experience of working in a marketing role, ideally within a biological sciences, veterinary or human medicine, animal welfare or a membership setting, and will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of effective engagement principles. Our annual Congress is a major event in our calendar, and applications from individuals with a background in events marketing would be particularly welcome.
The candidate must be flexible to occasionally work outside of normal office hours.
Other essential skills include: ● Managing a department with a high volume of tasks and assignments with short lead times ● Experience of planning and delivering effective marketing and communication campaigns ● A passion and flare for data and analytics, and a commitment to insight-led approaches ● Up-to-date knowledge of marketing and communications tools including social media
platforms and SEO ● A genuine commitment to engagement practices and being part of a member-led
organisation. ● The ability to work proactively, with high attention to detail using your own initiative to
accomplish a variety of tasks often to tight deadlines
● Exceptional organisational and time management skills
About the BSAVA: The BSAVA is a professional membership association which exists to advance care for companion animals. With a membership of more than 10,000 veterinary surgeons, vet nurses and students, we work in the UK and internationally to promote excellence in small animal practice through education and science, by facilitating training, conducting research, and developing policy. Each year we deliver numerous education courses, host a large small-animal Congress, and publish books, manuals, apps, and magazines.
This post sits within the Membership & Marketing department and reports to the Head of Membership & Marketing.
Our reward package for this role includes a basic salary of between £40,000 and £45,000 per annum (depending on qualification and experience). In addition, we offer generous employer pension contributions starting at 7% and increasing up to 10% with length of service.
